Subject: Burro's hit the UK

Guys, Well I've had my bike for around a month now and must say it's been bloody brilliant!! Have been playing around with her here in Chicago in preparation for the onset of our dreadful winters (yet to materialize!) cycling on the lake front - very muddy and sandy beaches etc and she rides like a dream - must say I am used to a lot bigger chain rings but once you understand that you can cycle over anything on a Burro the speed thing somehow seems a whole less important. Anyway with that in mind I took her home with me on my last visit to the UK - my house backs on to 10 square miles of some great woodland trails- some very steep inclines and a whole lot of mud - Can honestly say that I was able to cycle routes that would have been near impossible on my Klein. My UK buddies were amazed/jealous/fascinated. Apart from a puncture about an hours trek from home one afternoon (Ok, ok so I didn't have any puncture gear with me!) I had the best time and the bike preformed exactly as you guys claimed. Have taken some photos as requested by Ted and once I've scanned them I'll email them over. I might just have to turn up at you're place one Tuesday or Thursday afternoon and give you guys a run for your money. Cheers, ST.

Subject: Maiden Voyage

Wow, what a fun bike!!  Clare likes it a lot, and I do too, judging by the six minutes I got to spend on it.

Do you guys glue the tires to the rims?  Clare nearly spun a valve stem off when we aired the rear down a bit for traction, so we had to deflate, straighten up, and reinflate a little firmer than she wanted for the conditions.  What kind of glue do you use?  Simon at All Weather Sports gave me some once, but I still spun the tire on the rim, so I gave up on that stuff.

I'm attaching some pics from the maiden voyage.  It was a super pleasant day, temp +30, no wind, overcast.

Thanks for doing such a good job!

Clare and Ken

Subject: Burro

Hello, Greg! I received the Burro last Wednesday.  On the day after I ordered the Burro, I crashed on another mountain bike and busted my ribs and bruised myself up pretty good.  Therefore, I did not get a chance to ride it until yesterday (against doctor’s and wife’s wishes!). The Burro is everything I thought it would be and then some.  I cannot tell you how pleased I am with it!!  I rode the Burro on a backcountry bike/horse trail in Big South Fork NRRA, which is near Jamestown, TN.  I have ridden these trails before on my other more conventional mountain bikes, but they are just too muddy, sandy, and steep to be enjoyable.  I thought these trails would be good proving grounds for the Burro’s advertised abilities.  The Burro performed better than I could have ever expected!!  The deep sand pits, muddy horse ruts, steep climbs, and horse turd obstacle courses proved to be absolutely no problem for the Burro.  I feel confident that it can take me to places that I was hesitant to try on my other bikes.  The stability, traction, and comfort of the Burro are second to none in my book.  If I am that impressed with it on my first ride, I may decide to marry it after I get a few more miles on it!! I am a little older (43 years old) and a little heavier (215 lbs.) than many mountain bikers.  I have been riding, collecting, and working on mountain bikes since 1983, but I am still not a terribly accomplished rider.  Because I like to ride slow and enjoy the natural beauty around me, I have a hard time finding riding partners, so I primarily ride by myself.   Despite these factors, there is almost nothing I would rather do than mountain bike, even though I don’t get to ride as much or as often as I would like.  The areas I do most of my riding (eastern Tennessee, western North Carolina, and north Georgia) have a lot of steep hills, rocks, sand, mud, exposed tree roots, and about anything else you might run across on a mountain bike.  I have always been somewhat intimidated by much of the terrain in my area.  Previously, I have always had real or imaginary limitations and restraints on where I thought I could go on my bike.  Now, I feel like the Burro has opened up a new world for me.  The terrain seems much more manageable and the adverse trail conditions are much less intimidating. Because the Burro is strong and well-built, I do not have to worry about mechanical problems.  The Burro also allows me to maintain the slow and easy pace I enjoy riding, and ride in comfort longer than I could on my other bikes.  I feel more confident, more in control, more comfortable, and safer than I have on any other bike I have ever ridden.  In other words, I am ecstatic about this bike! I sincerely appreciate all of your help in getting me my Burro.  Again, I couldn’t be happier with it!

Thanks!!! Jeff Murphy
